Belonging to the family Caricaceae, papaya is a tall herbaceous plant found growing mostly in tropical places in America. It has many nutrients like vitamins, minerals like zinc, potassium, magnesium plus others like fiber, folates etc. Consuming papaya fruit would provide us with numerous health benefits like preventing cancer due to anticancer properties, boosts heart health, improves digestion, prevents inflammation etc. Not many of us would know that eating papaya in combination with other foods would lead to health issues.

Various other foods that we must never eat with papaya are

Avoid papaya with Citrus fruits:

Many of us make fruit salad by mixing papaya with citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits etc.  Bitter fact is that eating papaya with citrus fruits would increase vitamin C in us and this would lead to heartburns etc.

Avoid papaya with high protein:

We could get digestive issues when we combine papaya with high protein foods like meat, fish etc. It must be noted that papaya is rich in enzymes and it would break down proteins. So, please be careful.

Avoid papaya with fermented foods:

It is important that fermented foods like kimchi etc should not be consumed with papaya fruit. Truth is that the enzymes in papaya might get mixed with the probiotics in these foods and this would lead to digestion based issues in us.

Avoid papaya with milk and dairy products:

Making smoothies by mixing papaya with dairy products must be avoided. It is believed that the enzymes like papain and chymopapain etc present in papaya fruit could lead to milk curdling and this would disrupt the functioning of the digestive system. There are possibilities of bloating, gas etc in us.

Avoid papaya with spicy foods:

It is known that spicy foods could irritate our stomach lining and combining spicy foods with papaya would lead to GI issues and digestive discomfort etc. Please take care.

Avoid papaya with fatty foods:

We might get digestive discomfort when we eat papaya with fatty foods like fried dishes, creamy sauces etc. It must be noted that low fat food like papaya must not be combined with high fatty foods.

Avoid papaya witith raw eggs:

The raw eggs might carry salmonella and the enzymes present in papaya might not mix well.  So, please be careful.

Avoid papaya with tomatoes:

Many of us would have consumed papaya along with tomatoes without knowing that it could create issues. Both papaya as well as tomatoes are acidic and their combination could lead to health issues.
