If you think that it is easy to lose weight, then you are wrong!!

The bitter truth is that there are no quick methods to lose excess weight or stomach fat or belly fat. Those who want to lose their excess weight must show high dedication and patience.

Sometimes, there are chances that certain persons might gain weight inspite of doing exercises regularly and eating a weight loss diet etc. This could result in total frustration to these persons.

It is necessary to know the important reasons or causes that can lead to weight gain despite adhering to exercises and healthy diet etc.

The reasons are

Muscle gain:

It is said that muscle gain in those who exercise regularly would make them put on or gain weight. Point to be noted is that muscle tissue is denser than fat and it would weigh more. Many of us would not be aware that while doing strength training exercises etc we could build muscle while losing fat.

Calorie intake underestimation:

Unintentional weight gain could occur in us when we underestimate our calorie intake. Truth is that portion sizes could be misleading and healthy foods could be calorie dense. It has been shown by research study that individuals might not know about the exact amount of calories they consume. By using a calorie tracking application or food diary etc, we could know about the calories consumed by us.

Stress and cortisol levels:

We can put on weight through cortisol release (inspite of doing exercises regularly and eating a healthy diet) when we have stress. It must be noted that elevated cortisol levels are associated with increased appetite and huge food cravings etc.  Bitter fact is that stress induced cortisol can lead to accumulation of fat in our stomach area. Hence, it is necessary to manage our stress. Please take care.

Sleep deprivation:

There are possibilities of weight gain if we are sleep deprived and this inspite of adhering to daily exercises and intake of healthy well balanced diet etc. Sleep deprivation would disrupt our hormonal balance and due to this, we could have increased food cravings and we would gain weight.

Medical conditions and certain medicines intake:

If a person has hypothyroididism or PCOS etc, then he or she would gain weight even if they do exercises daily and eat healthy foods etc. It is necessary to consult a doctor and get treated for these issues. Consuming certain antidepressants would also make us gain weight. Please be careful.

Metabolic changes related to age:

It is noteworthy that when we grow older or age then our metabolic rate would decrease. By this, there would be changes regarding processing of calories by the body.
